Cascioni Eco Retreat
A secluded eco-retreat perched between sea and mountain on Sardinia’s rugged north coast
Cascioni’s airy suites are decorated in fittingly earthy tones with vistas over the countryside. Cool off with a dip in your private, freshwater pool or stargaze in comfort from your secluded garden. A lounge and restaurant are across the courtyard, anchored to the earth by a generous stone hearth. Lounge lizards can pass the time here in the convivial terrace bar or relax poolside in the shade of a tree.

Environmentally Conscious
For this Ecolabel certified retreat, sustainability is a long-standing tradition of gratitude towards the generous land that Cascioni calls home. From ‘nature in a jar’ jam making experiences, ‘garden to pot’ cooking classes, an on-site aromatic herb garden and farm complete with bee hives and chicken coops, to creating a wildlife walking trail and offering complimentary kayak rental for guests to sensitively discover the Saloni wetlands, Cascioni takes a ‘tread lightly’ approach to its natural surrounds. Guests are invited to adopt an olive tree in Cascioni’s grove, join the olive harvest which contributes towards the retreat’s olive oil-based, chemical-free beauty line, and learn about Sardinian plants at turn-down service when a sprig from the garden is placed on the bedside table each evening, firmly rooting each experience in the earth. To explore further afield, there is a Cascioni-owned sailing yacht for eco-friendly trips to the La Maddalena Archipelago marine park, along with two 100% electric cars for hire.
Cultural Custodians
At the point of booking Cascioni Eco Retreat, guests receive the hotel’s Signature Experience Brochure – put together by an official Sardinian regional tour guide and a National Aigae Wilderness hiking guide who work on the Cascioni concierge - along with access to the digital app which promote cultural experiences and local traditions including Sardinian wine and honey tasting, clay-making and weaving workshops using natural dyes from Cascioni plants, archaeological tours of Arzachena, and visits to nearby medieval villages. The artisan spirit can be felt throughout the retreat, as many artworks and decorative items on display are available for purchase from local ceramicists, sculptors, painters and craftsmen. Each suite has its own name (written on the entrance in the Sardinian language), and cultural theme represented by handmade objects from oak, cork, and terracotta hung on the walls by nine nails. Guests can also enjoy a traditional ‘shepherd breakfast’ made from ingredients commonly eaten by the rural community before going to work in the fields.
Community Minded
As a locally owned, family-run hotel, Cascioni makes a point of hiring Sardinian staff who have first-hand knowledge of and share a deep connection with the island, while offering free educational courses to Cascioni staff through the local EBIT association to grow local talent and promote professional growth. Alongside Cascioni’s own farm production, the retreat purchases locally from small, artisan suppliers such as flour from Coda di Lupo, an organic farm committed to the protection of ancient Sardinian flour varieties, almonds from the little town of Tuili, and an extensive Sardinian wine list of homegrown labels. Guests are encouraged to visit local weekly markets and local vineyards, making use of the hotel’s free shuttle to San Pantaleo village. The retreat’s Mediterranean garden was designed by Sardinian landscape artist and agronomist Marco Scano who specialises in natural, sustainable cultivation of Mediterranean flora which require very little water and retain their colourful displays even during the hottest months.
Our Hotel
Green gold
Situated in a bountiful corner of north-east Sardinia, Cascioni is intrinsically connected to the land. Experience the quintessential peasant tradition of the olive harvest in the resort’s own grove where three varieties are proudly cultivated. Spread nets on the ground, comb fruit from the branches and bottle your own oil at the pressing mill.Skim the seas
The best way to explore Gallura’s undiscovered coves, flawless beaches and emerald waters is by boat. Take a trip on Cascioni’s own sailing yacht to explore the Maddalena archipelago. Glide over the waves, dip into glistening waters, and relax on deck before returning to harbour. Make lasting memories with an evening cruise and watch the sunset with a glass in hand.Heaven scent
Nothing evokes emotions and memories like fragrance, which is thoughtfully celebrated in one of Cascioni’s curated experiences. Breathe in the heady scents of myrtle, rosemary and helichrysum – and discover their healing properties – with a visit to the herbal workshop at the nearby Lu Capruleddu estate. Then inhale the rich nose of silky wines at Muscazega vineyard, set among streams and cork forests. Our rooms
