HISTORY & CULTURE
From the outside Palma’s Cathedral is awe-inspiring, but step inside and you’ll find a fascinating mix of styles, including work by Antoni Gaudí. Afterwards, hop over the road to visit the symbolic seat of the King of Spain – the Palau de l’Almudaina. Providing the Royal Family isn’t in residence, you can wander this magnificent site and explore its Roman, Arabic and Gothic heritage.

DAY TRIPS
Perfect for a city break, Palma also has enticing beach retreats on its doorstep. Follow in the footsteps of royalty and go west to Cala Major (also known as Cala Mayor). The Spanish Royal Family holiday here, at Marivent Palace. You could pay a visit to the former home and studio of Miró – the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró – and spend time admiring more than 2500 works of art. Or simply stretch out on the sand and enjoy the Balearic sunshine.

FOOD & DRINK
Head to one of Palma’s chic eateries and you’re likely to find Mallorcan cuisine with a contemporary twist. Or step into the labyrinthine streets and embark on a tapas crawl. It won’t be long before you track down some irresistible tapas or pintxos. Try tortilla, albondingas and fresh mejillones (mussels), washed down with an ice-cold cerveza.
